Q: What is Dance Marathon?

Dance Marathon is a multi-hour, multi-faceted event that blends dancing, games, crafts, food, and fun into one philanthropic experience. Students are on their feet the entire duration of the marathon as they stand for the kids at Riley.

Q: How do I start a Dance Marathon at my high school/university?

A: The first step is to obtain administrative approval from your school to host the event and find a staff advisor to assist in your efforts. Next, establish a relationship with one of our Riley Children’s Foundation Dance Marathon Coordinators. You can find contact information for the Riley Children’s Foundation Dance Marathon Staff at http://donate.rileykids.org/site/PageNavigator/rcf_contact_us.html. Finally, form your Dance Marathon Committee consisting fellow students who will work to launch your Riley Dance Marathon.;

Q: How are funds raised for Dance Marathons?

A: Funds for Dance Marathons are raised in a variety of ways. The main way funds are raised for Dance Marathons is through personal donations from friends, family, and community either online or offline.  Schools can hold smaller fundraisers before their marathon such as these ideas at http://donate.rileykids.org/site/PageNavigator/rcf_fundraising.html. An admission fee can also be charged for entrance/registration into the event and directed towards your fundraising total.

Q: What is involved with planning a Dance Marathon?

A: On average Dance Marathons begin planning 3-6 months before their event. Contact a Dance Marathon Coordinator to discuss what a Dance Marathon timeline typically entails.

Q: Do I have to Fundraise?
A: The purpose of Dance Marathon is to raise awareness and funds for Riley Hospital for Children and individual fundraising is encouraged. Each school’s level of fundraising differs. Dance Marathons can encourage participants to fundraise outside of registration costs and other smaller events in ways such as online giving pages and letter writing campaigns. Q: How do event organizers request promotional items for an event?

A: Please click here to tell us about your event and request promotional items. Please understand that while the Foundation does not charge you anything to order these supplies, there is a cost to the Foundation to supply them. Therefore, in an effort to minimize the cost of raising a dollar, please do not order more than needed.

Q: Can event organizers use Riley’s logo on items for an event?

A: You may not use our logo without Riley Children’s Foundation’s specific prior written authorization. This requirement applies to broadcast promotions, all printed materials, web content and any other promotional information related to your event. Images for specialty items such as t-shirts, caps, buttons, pins, coffee mugs, etc. must be submitted for approval prior to production.

A: Donations can be made to a specific school’s general fundraising page or an individual participant page. Follow this link to find your school and/or participant.

Q: If my school can’t hold a Dance Marathon, what can we do to fundraise for Riley?

A: If you want to fundraise for Riley in a different way than Dance Marathon, there is our Kids Caring and Sharing Program. Kids Caring and Sharing is a program in which more than 650 schools across Indiana actively fundraise through a multitude of ways for Riley Hospital for Children.
